New musicians…September 2011

Welcome back to school everybody. I hope our young musicians have been keeping up with their practice during the summer.

It is now time to sign up for an instrument if you are in Year 4. Letters will; be going out today or tomorrow to invite childern and parents/carers to commit to this year’s tuition from the Manchester Music Service in violin, ‘cello, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, balalaika and domra. Cost for the full year is £138. This can also be paid by 3 tearmly advance cheque payments of £46 or 6 ghalf-termly payments of £23. This is very good value when compared to individual private tuition.

Guitar lessons are also available at £5 per lesson over a minimum of an eight weeks block. Very few places left.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Mr Billington.

Chorlton Young Musician of the Year 2011

3AM’s Soundscaping

On Friday 3AM created soundscapes of a storm at sea. For ideas we listened to sounds of storms on the Internet and also to Debussy’s La Mer. Then in groups of 4 we decided on the instruments and noises we would use to portray the sounds of a storm at sea. We then performed our soundscapes to the class. Mrs Millington was very impressed with our compositions!
