Year 4 it’s your turn to play in assembly on Friday 5th February! So those of you that have lessons either inside or outside of school, we’d love to hear you play. Make sure you let your class teacher know.

Year 6 it’s your turn to play in assembly this Friday (29th January). If you learn a musical instrument either inside or outside of school and would like to play in assembly on Friday then make sure you speak to your class teacher about it.
We’re looking forward to hearing all the musical talent in Year 6!

Here are a few musical games for you to play!

Have fun!

Year 1 singing

Year 1 singing

Year 1 children enjoy singing, listening to music and playing percussion instruments in their music area within their classroom. It looks like they’re having lots of fun!

The Performance Rota for Key Stage 2 children was set up 3 or 4 years ago to provide opportunities for children who learn an instrument either inside or outside of school to perform in an informal setting. The children perform during one of our Friday Achievement Assemblies. Mrs Millington organises the dates that the performances will take place and then lets each set of year group teachers know. The year group teachers then ask the children in their year group to volunteer if they would like to perform. The performances are informal and provide an opportunity for the children to gain the experience of performing to an audience.

As well as the string players performing at Showcase 2009, Mrs Haycocks, Mr Sloan and Miss Etchells took the school choir.  The picture shows the children during their rehearsal in the concert hall at The Royal Northern College of Music, just before the concert.  The choir performed brilliant at Showcase and they looked fantastic too, wearing the new Chorlton Park Choir t-shirts!

Getting ready to rehearse!

The string players from Chorlton Park were invited by the Manchester Music Service to perform in Showcase 2009 at The Royal Northern College of Music. In preperation for this the Music Service came into school to hold a workshop with the children involved.  It was a fantastic day, there were performances from the music service staff and students, fun music games and of course rehearsals for the concert.

Welcome to Chorlton Park’s new music blog!  There are so many super music activities that go on in our school that we wanted to share some of them with you.  On the blog you will find pictures and updates of some of the things that we’ve been doing!
